Learn skills to notice and process the residues of traumatic experience that are held in your clients' bodies. Sensorimotor Psychotherapy helps you to work with your clients beyond words, with the often implicit somatic patterns related to traumatic experience to help inspire lasting change from the inside, out. In this six-module course, you will learn the basics of Sensorimotor Psychotherapy for working with traumatic experience, practice the basic skills that you will be able to apply immediately with your clients who are distressed or traumatized and touch on adaptations of SP skills for more complex clinical situations. We are honored and excited to create a partnership between the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute (SPI) and Black Therapists Rock (BTR). Expanding the reach of Sensorimotor Psychotherapy to marginalized and underserved communities throughout the world is a central goal at SPI, and we deeply appreciate this opportunity to collaborate and learn together. At SPI, we are committed to an active, ongoing process of decolonizing our curriculum and integrating an anti-racist, anti-oppression perspective into our institute and our clinical work. Our partnership with BTR is an inspiring next step in this pursuit, and we are thrilled to welcome applications from BTR members into our professional training. Included in the course are optional online, asynchronous enrichment readings and activities to deepen your knowledge of Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. Consultation Requirements: Students are required to conduct 3 hours of individual or group consultation with a Trainer or SPI Approved Consultant (SPIAC) to successfully complete the training.
